Learning to drive manual gives you more control and flexibility. Pass your test in a manual car and you can drive both manual and automatic vehicles. Pass in an automatic and you’re stuck with automatics only.

The clutch and gear changes might feel odd at first, but within a few lessons it becomes automatic. Most of our learners at GoPro Driving find themselves changing gears without thinking about it after their third or fourth session.

Manual cars are generally cheaper to buy and run, which helps when you’re a new driver facing high insurance costs. You’ll also have far more choice when buying or renting a car down the line.
